Moovl

What is "Java" and why might I need it?

"Java" is the computer programming language that Moovl uses. To use Moovl, you need to have the "Java Runtime Environment" installed on your computer. (You will be familiar with a similar situation if you have downloaded the Macromedia Shockwave Player in order to use websites or CD-ROMs that use the Flash program.) The Java Runtime Environment is available free of charge from Sun Microsystems Inc.

Not sure whether you have Java installed? Go to http://www.moovl.co.uk and click the Check for Java™ button.

After a moment, you will see something like this:

Check for JavaThis computer has Java version 1.5.0_06 installed. This is sufficient to run Moovl. If the number displayed had been less than 1.5, or if a grey box had been displayed instead of a number, then you would need to install Java on the computer to use Moovl.

If you need to install Java (or upgrade to a newer version), click the "Get Java Software" button to visit a web page where you can download the correct version free of charge.

NB: some computers may have been set up so that programs cannot be downloaded and installed, or so that Java cannot run. If you have these problems it may be useful to talk to your network administrator.
