Moovl

What kind of computer do I need to use Moovl?

If you use PCs you will need:

  • Windows 2000 or Windows XP
  • A Pentium III processor with 128 MB RAM
  • A screen that can be set to at least 1024 x 768
  • Any of these internet browsers: Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 5.5 or greater); Firefox (version 1.0.7 or greater); Opera (version 8 or greater). See below for more details.
  • Broadband internet connection.
  • You will need to install the Java Runtime Environment software on each machine that will use Moovl. This can be obtained free of charge from this URL – http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp (The Moovl home page also contains a button to Check for Java and to download the correct version). For more about this see "What is Java?".

If you use a PC server it should run on one of these systems:

  • Windows NT Server
  • Windows 2000 server
  • Win Server 2003.

If you use Apple ("Macintosh") computers you will need:

  • Mac OS 10.4 (or above)
  • Power Mac G4 1 GHz with 128 MB RAM
  • A screen that can be set to at least 1024 x 768
  • Broadband internet connection
  • Safari or Firefox Internet browsers
  • You will need to install the Java Runtime Environment software on each machine that will use Moovl. This can be obtained free of charge from this URL http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/java2se50release1.html.

If you use a Mac server, it should run Mac server OS.

Internet connections

Moovl is used entirely from the Moovl website at http://www.moovl.co.uk. A broadband connection should be used for any classroom use (a dial-up connection may be satisfactory for teachers preparing lessons from home, but downloads from the website will of course be slower). Each computer needs to be connected to the Internet all the time it is using Moovl or the Moovl website.

Opera Browsers
